My entrepreneurial story today is dedicated to Marija VASIĆ, the owner of Flower Studio MAMARAMA LUX in Kragujevac.
Marija is someone who listens carefully to the needs of her clients, reads between the lines even better, and knows exactly how to brighten your day. The connection between her and her flowers is more than evident.
When you step into her floral workshop, she will share stories about plants with you, encourage you to reflect on what you truly want, and provide more than you expected—creating a unique and memorable experience.
The floral arrangements, shaped by her hands, creativity, and inspiration, leave a distinctive mark wherever you see them… which is why we keep coming back.
When asked how she would describe herself, she responded:
“A happy person is one who recognizes and lives their purpose, their truth—with all its blooming pages and the ones where thorns remain from the most beautiful roses. Those pages are equally part of the story of a happy woman, a joyful mother, and a curious florist who always has something new to learn.”
Of course, there is much more to Marija… In the following lines, she shares her entrepreneurial journey.
What inspired you to step into the world of entrepreneurship?
For me, the greatest inspiration was love and the realization that flowers speak a universal language across all continents, in all cultures, and even in the universe. It was also my deep interest in everything I can convey, enhance, awaken, and bring joy through flowers in my hands.
What are the key ingredients for achieving success in your field?
Drawing from fifteen years of experience, I would highlight the following elements:
- Empathy—the ability to recognize the emotions of others.
- The desire and will to turn a floral vision into reality.
- Discipline, continuous education, and patience.
- Love—as the main source of energy from which all other elements emerge.
How important are people in your entrepreneurial journey?
People hold a very high place—they are an integral part of my work.
I am absolutely certain that mutual understanding leads to shared goals.
I also believe that we need each other to bring ideas to life, and this applies equally to both colleagues and clients.
From your experience, what are the key factors in effectively developing and leading people?
My experience has shown that development and leadership rely on:
- Continuous education.
- Keeping up with industry trends.
- Maintaining quality regardless of external circumstances.
- Respecting agreements.
- Tolerance and empathy for potential challenges.
What role does communication play in driving your business success?
A crucial one! From my perspective, a quality conversation is half the work done.
It is essential to foster openness and a willingness to truly listen to the client, align desires with possibilities, and present new opportunities and ideas. When we fulfill our agreements, mutual satisfaction is guaranteed!
Additionally, I educate my clients on what flowers can communicate, express, and evoke—helping them use this language to leave a lasting impression in both personal and professional settings.
What valuable lessons have the challenges in your career taught you?
Dancing with challenges has taught me two important things—one is to remain persistent in my intentions and actions.
The other is that the sun is always shining; sometimes, we are just on the side of the Earth where it is night. In such moments, we need to remind ourselves that we are only human, in need of rest, reflection, and a pause—so that tomorrow, we can continue on our path even better.
What are the three key strategies for successfully running your own business?
- Love what you do—love is the essential ingredient of success!
- Do things in your own way and showcase your authenticity!
- Respect yourself, your work, and the people you engage with!
